MUSIC: Bands battle it out in Rox final

Eight West Sussex bands have made it through to the live finals of this year's Rox Challenge in Bognor Regis.

One of them could be heading for an unforgettable evening supporting Supergrass, The Lightning Seeds and Idlewild at Arundel Castle on August 21.

Online voting for the Rox Challenge 2009 to earn the support slot of a lifetime has ended.

It's now down to each band to demonstrate its 'musical ability, originality, stage presence and entertainment value' in front of a panel of judges and fans at The Family Tree, in Durlston Drive, Bognor, on Sunday, August 9.

The lucky bands who made it through are Adam Wedd and the Independents, Burn the Evidence, Sandweaver, Hymaglobin, My Element, I am Jack, Lightning Boots and Aceville.

Tickets are 5 on the door in aid of the Rox music and arts charity. A Rox spokesman said the night promised to showcase some of the hottest local bands.
