The local club produced a brilliant team performance in a six-team match at the William Parker Community Athletics Arena aimed at athletes in the under-13 and under-15 age groups.

Following on from their successes in the Sussex County Championships the previous weekend, the Hastings athletes were in fine form and full of confidence, and boy did they deliver.

There were too many athletes to name, however several do deserve special mention. George Pool - an under-13 athlete to watch - ran a superb 800m in a new club record time of 2min15.3secs.

The girls too were setting new personal bests on the track and really chasing the records. Under-13 Harmony Cooper ran 800m in 2:28.9, just outside the national qualifying standard for this event.

Sarah Huxstep set a new best time of 44.2 in the U15 300m and ran the 200m in 27.6s. Keira Aslett and Jaz Clark ran brilliant races in the U15 800m, clocking 2.22.4 and 2.31.4 respectively.

These performances and many more on a lovely sunny day ensured that Hastings AC look good to gain promotion if this standard can be maintained in the two remaining fixtures.
