Very good performances across the age groups meant Hastings athletes came home with lots to show for their efforts in Crawley.

For the boys, Will Martin in the 100m, Matt Herring in the 1500m and Luke Cooper in the 800m all showed real form.

The girls are also in fine form and they too took to the podium. Sophie Markwick in the 3,000m set the standard for the others to follow and Samara Galea won a medal in 80m hurdles. Katie Sills and Chloe Vine made the 200m final, and Josephine Edmunds clocked a very creditable time in a new event for her, the 1500m.

In the junior girls’ events, Becky Smart and Rosa Pitt got things moving along nicely in the hurdles and 200m respectively. Keira Aslett and Jazz Clark both won medals in the 800m, while Ellen Brooker and Grace Gurr ran the 1500m, with Brooker getting a medal.

The senior girls were not to be ignored with Rebecca Elphick in the 800m, and Katie Garland in both the high and long jumps showing why they are two of the best local talents.

It was good mid-season form from all the athletes and the chase for the national standard is on.
