Wick suffer last-minute agony

WICK FC were made to suffer for squandering a series of chances at Crabtree Park, as Hassocks forward, Matt Amoss, struck a dramatic winner for the visitors just two minutes from time on Saturday.

It was a cruel end to a close encounter, but the hosts were ultimately punished after failing to convert their efforts in front of goal.

It required a great passage of play by Hassocks to clinch the all-important third goal. Mark Sherriff found Micky Turner in space on the right. Turner delivered the perfect ball for Amoss to connect with and his thunderous volley left Wick goalkeeper Simon Davey stranded.

Amoss was excellent throughout, and he demonstrated his trickery early on when he produced a clever turn to wrong-foot Tony Miles, but saw his close-range effort fizz wide.
