Stu aiming to roll over rivals

Stuart Holland is hoping to impress at the Men’s (Under-25) Junior Trials 2011 hosted by Bowls England.

The Bexhill-based talent is one of 48 players gunning for 24 places in the England team for the Men’s Junior International Series at Worthing during September.

His fate will be decided at Norgren BC, Warwickshire, on Saturday when the hopefuls will take part in six fours matches over two sessions.

Holland, who has attended five outdoor trials in the past and been successful on four occasions, said: “It’s quite a long way to go, but hopefully it will be worth it.”

The Polegrove BC member is in the White Team to take on the Red Team and will line-up in rink three alongside Sam Kelly (Norfolk), Ed Morris (Essex) and Kieran Moss (Kent).

Their opponents will be Mark Nullmeyers (Essex), Ashley Clipston (Derbyshire), Matt Coppen (Hertfordshire) and Ean Morten (Huntingdonshire). Session one will start at 11am and session two will get underway from 2.30pm.

Former Bexhill College student Holland is a four-time Sussex junior champion in the summer game, as well as winning the EBA National Junior Singles in 2007 and British Isles Bowls Council Championships in 2008.
