The feature event on the opening day is The Piglets Support UK Farmers Handicap Stakes over seven furlongs, which is race five on the card for horses with a handicap rating of 0-85.

Last year the race was won by the top weight Corporal Maddox, which is trained by Ronald Harris. Last year's Brighton Mile winner Mime Dance has an entry for his seasonal return.

The summer weather is finally with us and as always children under the age of 18 can go racing for free. There is no better way to spend an evening up on the Downs.

The racecourse has a special offer for the opening meeting. If you book four places or more in the Silks Restaurant, you will receive a complimentary bottle of house wine.

Advanced ticket sales end at 3pm on Monday (April 20).

It is great to have racing back at Brighton Racecourse. I look forward to seeing plenty of you over the coming months.
