The club announced the signing on the website, saying: “It’s a name that will bring memories flooding back to Horsham fans as former club legend Lee Carney re-joins the club six years after departing to join Three Bridges. Now 33 years old, the distinguished midfield general played over 300 games during an eight year spell with The Hornets and was an integral part of former boss John Maggs’ side that reached the FA Cup Second Round against Swansea City in 2007.

“Despite his success and adulation amongst the fans at Horsham, Carney left to join Three Bridges midway through the 2009/10 season, who at the time played in the Sussex County League, two divisions below The Hornets. However, the midfielder soon vindicated his decision as he quickly established himself as club captain and the club went on to win the John O’ Hara Cup twice while Carney helped his side seal promotion into the Ryman League in 2012.”
