Proud Jimmy to captain England

BEXHILL'S Jimmy Robertson has been named captain for the England under-17s snooker team for the home internationals in September.

The Q-Ball and O'Sullivans player made a brilliant debut for the national team last year when he won all his matches 3-0 to help England win the competition for the sixth time.

The championships will be at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales, with a new format of six-man teams rather than three.

Jimmy, 15, said: "It's a proud moment to be named captain and hopefully the team can retain the title."

The rising star can also qualify for the main professional tour next month if he's successful in the World Junior National play-offs. Jimmy will need to win three games to book a place on the tour where he could face the likes of Ronnie O'Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White.
