Parris' Games place confirmed

Tom Parris has had his place in the England swimming squad for the Commonwealth Games confirmed.

As expected following his performance in the British Championships during the spring, the Bexhill-based talent is part of the 45-strong national squad which will compete in New Delhi from October 3-14.

Parris clocked a time of 1.50.15 to finish seventh in the 200m freestyle at the British Championships in Sheffield, enough to book his place in the England relay squad which will compete over the same distance.

The Hastings Seagull swimmer returned to the UK in the early part of 2010 having spent two-and-a-half years training and attending school in Brisbane, Australia.

After the British Championships, Parris linked-up with new coach Doug Frost, whose pupils include the great Ian Thorpe, at Stirling ITC in Scotland to step up his training in pursuit of a place at the 2012 Olympic Games.
