Little Common wish is granted

MEMBERS of Little Common Football Club are celebrating after receiving a grant of £4,782 from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme.

The money will enable the club to develop its newly formed girls section by paying for a new kit, equipment and league affiliation fees.

It will also allow Common to run coaching courses for managers and coaches in line with the club's development plan and Charter Standard requirement. New kit and equipment will also be purchased to upgrade the facilities and subsequently training opportunities to cope with the anticipated increased demand.

The grant is aimed at making a difference in the community because by improving and involving more children (boys and girls) the project will enable young people to get together and improve their quality of life.

Club spokesman Daniel Eldridge said: "We are thrilled to get this award. For a club like ours this is a large sum of money - and it will allow us to provide opportunities for many local people. We've worked very hard to develop this project and to write the application and are very grateful for the money we have received."

The club also held a successful coaching week which was attended by more than 70 boys. A three-day course was on offer for the older members (under-8 to under-11) before the under-6's and under-7's rounded off the week.
