H&B refuse to write off title hopes

HASTINGS & Bexhill refuse to write off their Sussex League title hopes despite losing 7-3 away to Pulborough on Saturday.

Assistant coach Rob Hamilton said: "It puts a dent in our title aspirations but we are by no means distraught and we have not written off our season, not even remotely."

H&B remain second in Division One of the rugby league on 11 points, two behind Uckfield who have a game in hand.

The only try of the match came midway through the first half when Toby Steele touched down after a delicate kick took a wicked bounce. Dave Elley added the conversion.

H&B responded through a Neil Redman penalty and despite dominating they could not find a breakthrough.

H&B continue their league programme against Chichester Institute at William Parker on Saturday December 14, kick-off 2.15pm.
