Towers quits as Wick boss

RICHARD Towers has quit as manager of Wick Football Club after just seven months in the job.

Towers took charge of the club for the last time on Saturday in their 2-0 defeat to Seaford where they finished with nine men.

It saw Wick’s total of red cards this season taken to 10 and the club’s chairman Keith Croft has cited this poor disciplinary as the reason for Towers’ departure.

He said: “I was very reluctant to accept Richard’s resignation, as, other than the disciplinary record, he has done a fantastic job.

“But he felt, ultimately, it was his responsibility as manager to organise the team and control the discipline, and after the past three or four weeks felt he didn’t have any other option than to step down.”
