Rye bidding for semi spot

Rye United will host Mile Oak in a Sussex County League John O’Hara League Cup quarter-final tonight (Wednesday).

The match falls just three days before Rye’s trip to Leverstock Green in the last 16 of the FA Vase and manager Scott Price expects to make around nine changes from the side which beat Wick in the league on Saturday.

But the strength in depth of Rye’s squad dictates that whatever team Price fields will be a strong one. The likes of Marc Gall, Duncan McArthur, Paul Tuppenney, Liam Upton and Luke Woodley are all likely to play.

Rye are sixth in Division One and Oak are ninth in Division Two. The winners will face Division Two leaders Lancing or Rustington in the semi-finals. Kick-off at The Salts is 7.45pm.
