Magpies knocked out by Eastbourne

Following a number of postponements Loxwood’s Sussex Senior Cup tie with Eastbourne Town finally went ahead on Wednesday night, though there was never much danger of an upset as Eastbourne ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

The Ryman South side - who were hosting the game after it was twice called off at Loxwood’s Plaistow Road because of the weather - named a strong starting team and got off to the perfect start when Richard Greenfield’s cross/shot went in off the posts after only five minutes.

The hosts doubled their lead through a Matt Crabb penalty before Loxwood’s best chance of the game saw Elliott Hawkes intercept a poor backpass but fire over from ten yards.

Just past the hour mark Greenfield rounded Loxwood keeper Sam Smith to score his second of the match and Ross Treleaven volleyed in a fourth as Eastbourne set up a home quarter-final tie with East Preston.
