Langton names Wilkins as new Horsham No.2

HORSHAM’S new caretaker manager Hugo Langton has appointed a new assistant manager and signed three new players.

Despite being away on holiday himself last week, Langton has kept himself busy by naming former Dover Athletic defender Craig Wilkins as his new No.2.

His new players are: Senegalese midfielder Senny Diedhiou who a former Napoli apprentice who has Ryman League experience and also played in the Spartan League for Tring Athletic.

Defender Nick Humphrey has played for Horsham’s Ryman League rivals Met Police.

And Dutch striker Ahmed Jahar’s former clubs include Ajax and Hayes & Yeading.

Jahar is going immediately out on loan to gain fitness, as is young striker Conor Hider.

Coach Richard Langley, who took charge of the team at Wednesday night’s much improved 1-1 draw at Hendon, has left the club to become former Horsham manager Justin Luchford’s new No.2 at his new club, Whitstable Town in Ryman League Division 1 South.

And striker Kane Rice has been released from the club due to work commitments.

Langton said: “I’m really excited by the quality of the new signings. They will complement our side and give us greater strength in key areas.

“Senny was brought up at the Napoli Youth Academy but has also played Ryman League football while Nicky Humphrey has got great experience at this level and, along with Ian Varley, will help get us organised in defence.

“Unfortunately I’ve had to let Kane go, simply because his new job means he has problems committing to the cause so he will be playing for a club more local to him.

“It was obviously very disappointing to lose Richard. He’s a great guy and the players all looked up to him. I wish him and Justin every success at Whitstable.

“Craig’s been a terrific servant to Kent football and is highly respected by players and coaches alike.”

Langton also revealed he is hoping to sign a new goalkeeper, Tomasz Krul, in time for their visit to Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday.
