Brighton will be looking to get off to a good start ahead of their Europa League campaign, but Luton will undoubtedly fancy themselves to cause an upset.
Here are seven things to keep an eye out for when the two clubs meet.
5. Moises Caicedo
It has been a whirlwind summer for the midfielder, and those keeping up to date with his ongoing transfer saga, and the latest is that the Ecuador international will not join Liverpool despite Brighton accepting a British transfer record fee of £111m for his services. It will be interesting to see if he does feature for the Seagulls on Saturday following months of speculation about his future. Photo: (Photo by Adam Hunger/Getty Images for Premier League)
6. The new kid on the block for Brighton
Despite making six signings during the summer transfer window, João Pedro’s record-breaking move to Brighton is the one that will have most fans licking their lips. The Brazilian worked under Edwards while the pair were at Watford and the attacker will be looking to prove himself in the Premier League after featuring in two top flight campaigns with the Hornets which both ended in relegation. 7. A good defensive, organised display from the new boys
Fans of other teams in the Championship have identified Luton’s strong defensive displays, organisation and aggression as the key attributes which allowed them to excel last season. Teams often have to adapt their style of play when moving up to the Premier League, but good defending and organisation are skillsets that will be crucial if Luton stay up this season.
