ARUNDEL Football Club have agreed to switch another home match in the hope of beating a fixture pile-up, owing to their flooded pitch.

Hassocks have taken on this weekend’s County League Division 1 clash originally scheduled between the two sides at Mill Road.

Mullets have not played at home since December 7 due to major flooding on their pitch, and – although it was also postponed – last weekend’s clash with Crowborough had also been arranged to be switched to Crows’ ground.

Arundel’s away clash at Pagham on Tuesday night was also postponed.

Mullets joint manager Simon Butler said: “Crowborough had agreed to take the game on and Hassocks likewise and all we have to do is pick up the cost of the programme, which is nice of them.”

On their own pitch, Butler added: “We had got the pumps on and it drained quickly, and although there were still patches of water, there was some green. But things then backed up and we have had to turn the pumps off until they have declared the high tides have stopped.”
