Fourth place last time - but Pagham boss aims higher in 2011-12

Pagham boss Carl Stabler is looking forward to another year of progression at the club after last season's top-four finish in the County League first division.

And the Lions boss has been handed a major boost with the core of last year’s squad signing on again, plus three additions to the side so far.

Tom Broadbent has signed on from Chichester City and has been joined by Alex Ward after his release by Gosport Borough, plus Bognor duo Phil Turner and Matt Wood. And Stabler is looking forward to the new term.

“We’re back in training ahead of our first friendly. They’ve trained hard, obviously we’re in pre-season now and the friendlies will get ourselves into shape ahead of the season starting on August 13,” he said.

“Our aim is obviously to do better than last season, so that’s aiming for the top four and really aiming to go three better than before and top what we achieved last year.”

Moneyfields test the new-look Pagham side this Saturday (July 23), with Bognor also visiting Nyetimber Lane on Monday. Pagham travel to Newport IoW and Rustington on July 30 and August 2, before finishing at home to Burgess Hill on August 6 then East Preston three days later.
