They went behind to a third-minute Johan Caney-Bryan strike but a Tom Collins double turned it round and gave them a win vital to their hopes of climbing away from the bottom of the Isthmian south east division.

Boss Martin Dynan said “We’ve conceded early – we’ve just been slow to start. We’ve looked into this and it’s a bit of both the way we set up and personnel, something we’re definitely working on.”

The Blues had conceded early goals in their previous three league games and before Saturday had failed to pick up a win since the end of October, but Dynan is eager to solve the dilemma.

He said “I wasn’t too fussed about keeping their heads up at that point. I was frustrated and felt let down. This group of lads are young and can be naive but are very very talented.

“I reminded them of the conversations we’d had in the week and the work done. It seemed to work with a bit of calmness added by my assistant Sam Morgan and coach James Smith.”

Heath’s fightback delighted the home fans, who earned praise from Dynan. He said: “We talk about the support in the group, at training, the lads even sing their chants to each other. It is like having a 12th man.

“The support at the club is second to none. We have a handful of fans that travel with us but when we are at home they are a lot more noticeable…I can't praise them enough."

Heath have unveiled a new signing, young defender Leon Moore, who came on in the second half.

Dynan said: “Leon is someone I know from my time at South Park and he brings a professional attitude and is dedicated to the game. He is the model pro if you can have one in non league.

“He does everything right, he does the extra work and he done well in the minutes that he was on the pitch on Saturday.”

This Saturday, Haywards Heath travel to Sevenoaks Town.

Meanwhile Burgess Hill lost 2-1 at Beckenham despite going ahead through an early Ashley Elson goal.

Jay Lovett’s side are down to 11th and aim to bounce back at home to Sittingbourne on Saturday.
