Debutant salvages point for Sidley

A debut goal from Leeroy Short earned Sidley United a creditable 1-1 draw at home to Peacehaven & Telscombe on Tuesday night.

The young right-back rose highest to head home an Andy Hales free kick in the 59th minute of a closely-contested Sussex County Football League Division One fixture.

Peacehaven had taken a sixth minute lead through Clive Snell’s looping header and were good value for it at half time, but a depleted Sidley side upped its game in the second half and in the end a draw was probably about right.
