Common win first floodlit game

Common eventually prevailed 2-1 after extra-time against Mile Oak in a Sussex RUR Charity Cup third round tie having equalised in added time at the end of normal time.

Mile Oak were the better side during the opening 45 minutes without really creating any clearcut chances. Common did improve during the second period and substitute Lewis Hole had a goal ruled out for offside, but it was the visitors who struck first through Ryan Pretlove in the 78th minute.

It looked as though the night was going to end in disappointment for Common until Dominic Cruttenden rolled home a 91st minute leveller. Hole struck the crossbar in the first minute of extra-time before Jamie Crone won it for Common with an angled drive for his 21st of the season 10 minutes before the end.

Sussex County Football League Division Two high-flyers Common, who won 4-2 away to Mile Oak in the league last month, will entertain East Preston or Dorking Wanderers in the quarter-finals. See Friday’s Bexhill Observer for a full report, pictures and reaction.
