Albion’s head of medical services, Adam Brett, said: “It was a great honour and privilege to receive the Championship medical and science team award for the 2016/17 season at the recent Football Medical Association Conference and Dinner.

“This is always a very tough category, as there are some fantastic medical departments and staff throughout the Championship.

“It is really with huge gratitude that I was able to receive the award with a few colleagues from our team, on behalf of all our medics, sports scientists and strength coaches that work tireless day-in-day-out for the club – always striving to achieve the best provision of service for our chairman, manager and players.

“This really does top off a fantastic season both personally from the medical department, but also in light of the incredible achievement the club has accomplished in promotion to the Premier League.

“We will now make sure all team members at the club get a few weeks down-time with family and friends, and we will look forward to starting the whole process again for our first pre-season in the Premier League!”
