The Seagulls put in a battling performance in their 1-0 defeat at Liverpool last weekend that bodes well for future games on the road this season. Mohamed Salah struck midway through the first half for the home side, with Pascal Gross going close to levelling the scores late in the game.

With Chris Hughton’s side having also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek against Southampton, they will be aiming to bounce back on home turf against one of this season’s new Premier League sides.

Albion’s West London opponents invested heavily over the summer, spending more than £90 million after gaining promotion to the top flight via the Championship play-offs.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s men got off the mark last weekend with a 4-2 home win over Burnley, with Aleksandar Mitrovic notching two of the goals to take his tally for this season to three in as many games. The former Newcastle striker was a rumoured target for Albion earlier in the year while still on Tyneside.

LIKELY LINE-UPS

BRIGHTON

Having set up more defensively in midfield for their trip to Anfield last Saturday, Hughton could revert to the same side that saw off Manchester United at the Amex a fortnight ago.

That would mean Pascal Gross coming back into the starting line-up in place of Yves Bissouma, who has impressed in the Seagulls' past two matches.

Bruno returned to training this week and could come back into contention. Lewis Dunk was set to train yesterday but is again likely to miss out. Florin Andone and Jose Izquierdo have again been ruled out.

Likely line-up: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Balogun, Bong; Knockaert, Stephens, Propper, March; Gross; Murray. Subs (from): Button, Bruno, Bernardo, Suttner, Kayal, Bissouma, Jahanbakhsh, Locadia.

FULHAM

The Cottagers beat Burnley 4-2 at Craven Cottage last weekend and then made 11 changes for their 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Exeter.

Tom Cairney has been ruled out after limping off against Burnley with a foot injury and Tim Ream is also still unavailable. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa could replace Cairney in the middle of the park and Ryan Sessegnon, who was on the bench against Burnley, could come back into the starting line-up.
