Albion started on the front foot, with their high pressing game being too much for Atletico and they quickly moved into a three goal lead.

After that, Atletico found their feet and the rest of the game was finely balanced.

Albion were technically very proficient and passed and moved very well, although the Atletico defence was able to deal with their threat.

Fin Ledingham had another great game, his third fine performance in a row since lockdown ended, with Tim Clifford and Will Anderson proving to be a string back line alongside him.

Josh Davidson was often the pivot in midfield, linking up play alongside Jack Dann and bringing Daniel Gardiner and Josh Gibson on the wings into the game.

Joshua Bellamy often ploughed his own furrow as he fed off scraps to create a couple of useful opportunities in the first half.

Atletico continued to make gains in the second half, with Romario Moratalla causing nervousness in the Albion defence.

Most pressure came from the right wing, where Henry Dinsdale and Lucas Byrne linked up well It was from that side of the pitch that Atletico’s goal came.

Byrne played a lively cross field pass that found Moratalla unmarked in the box and he powered his shot past the goalkeeper.

The game continued to be even in nature although keeper Theo Botevyle was called on to make a couple of fine saves.

Manager Ricardo Moratalla said: “Today’s game taught us some valuable lessons around the importance of passing, movement and making the best use of possession.

"We are using all of this season’s game to prepare for the next campaign and there is lots that we will be working on.”
