Pundit details Graham Potter selection decision that 'shocked' him before Leeds United win

Former Arsenal man Paul Merson admitted he was ‘shocked’ at Brighton’s decision to bench reported Arsenal target Yves Bissouma for the game against Leeds United in the Premier League.

Grham Potter benched Bissouma but Brighton still managed to win the game, Neal Maupay’s goal handing the Seagulls three vital points.

But Merson was initially at a loss when the team news dropped.

“Shocked, shocked,” said Merson. “You need people that are going to break the play up and win the ball back.

“I find it very surprising. I am a big fan of his.”

Football London have reported that the Gunners may wait until the summer to try and secure the Brighton player’s signature.

Bissouma is said to be keen to make a switch to North London and join Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard looks to shape his squad.
