Marseille have deal 'in place' for '€30m' Brighton and Southampton transfer target

Olympique de Marseille have a deal ‘in place’ for Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton transfer target Vitinha, according to latest reports.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Marseille have agreed a fee ‘in excess of €30m’ for the Sporting de Braga and Portugal under-21 striker.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Seagulls and Saints during the January transfer window.

It was reported yesterday by RMC Sport that Albion were ‘about to overtake everyone for Vitinha’. The French outlet said Brighton were ‘ready to pay his clause of 30 million euros’.

Meanwhile, The Sun said that Southampton had triggered the £26m release clause of the Braga forward.

Posting on Twitter, Romano said: “Vitinha to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal is in place for fee in excess of €30m — Vitinha will be in Marseille in the afternoon to sign the contract #OM

“Documents are being prepared — OM are waiting to get it signed but they’re ahead of English clubs for Vitinha.”

Vitinha has been in rich goalscoring form this campaign. The 22-year-old has hit 13 goals in 27 games in all competitions for Braga this season.

The hotshot’s goalscoring exploits saw him named in Portugal’s preliminary 55-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
