Brighton and Hove Albion have had their fair share of fearsome competitors over the years. Here we take a look at some of them and see how they earned their reputations. Scroll through the pictures below.
5. Eric Young 1982-87
A formidable and uncompromising centre back. Nicknamed "Ninja" due to his ever-present headband, which he wore to protect scar tissue on his forehead. He's now a chartered accountant.
6. Ian Baird 1996-97
An aggressive centre forward. Was sent-off for in Albion's last match at the Goldstone for fighting man-mountain and former West Brom manager Darren Moore who was playing for Doncaster at the time. Brave or stupid?...you decide.
7. Ashley Barnes 2010-14
Never afraid to get involved. He was famously sent off after about nine minutes against Burnley in the 2011-12 season. Since transferred to Burnley and continues to bang in the goals...and bang into defenders.
8. Adam El-Abd 2003-14
Poyet's defensive enforcer. Once punched Ricky Lambert in the face while they wrestled on the ground. Somehow it was Lambert who was sent-off.
