Albion young guns see off U’s

Hastings United kicked-off their pre-season friendly programme with a 2-0 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion’s youngsters last night (Tuesday).

Both goals came in the second half of a fixture watched by a very good crowd of 714 as supporters got their first look at a United side which is much-changed from last season.

Brighton bossed the opening 20 minutes before United started to come into the game as the first half wore on. Albion took the lead less than three minutes into the second period when Deniss Rakels headed home a George Barker free kick.

United goalkeeper Josh Pelling made a couple of good saves, while Jono Richardson and Sean Kelly had sights of goal at the other end before Albion added a second right at the end courtesy of a Josh Jirbandey own goal.
