Denied By Shower

SHOREHAM CC, too near the bottom of Division 1 for real comfort, were denied by a heavy shower the chance of victory away to Dome Mission in the West Sussex League on Saturday.

They had reduced Mission to 135-7 from 40 overs with three wickets each for Ian McRae and Chris Ward but, despite an early tea, the track remained too wet.

However, the teams below Shoreham, Findon 3rd and Chichester 3rd, both lost.

PORTSLADE suffered another heavy defeat on Saturday, by seven wickets at South Bersted, but they were without first-choice bowlers Richard Branson, Simon Lisher, Dave Baker, and Carl Lloyd.

Batting first, Portslade reached just 135 with their 10 men. Captain Rob Knight top scored with 31, Taffy Chip (29) and Ian Morley (28) the other main contributors.

Knight believes a win at home to East Preston this Saturday should see them safe.
