On Saturday the side kept up their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a 108-run home victory over Bridges. The hosts did not have it all their own way at the start of the match however, and looked in some bother when, batting first they were 60-5.

Overseas all-rounder Kuldeep Rawat and Matt Davies then put on a crucial century stand, Rawat top scoring with 64 and Davies ending unbeaten on 49 as Roffey were bowled out for 216 in the final over, a total which skipper Josh Fleming was more than happy with on a tricky batting wicket.

And their total proved more than enough as Bridges were bowled out for 108 thanks to an excellent team bowling and fielding effort which saw the wickets shared around, and included a stunning one-handed diving catch from Leigh Harrison at second slip to dismiss the visiting skipper Danny Alderman.

The following day Roffey travelled to Surrey Premier League side Valley End for their Group 11 semi-final clash.

This time Roffey batted first and made 263-8 from their 45 overs, skipper Fleming top scoring with 73 opening the batting, and half centuries also coming from Rohit Jagota and Matt Davies.

In reply Valley End fell someway short finishing with 215-8, Daniel Smith the pick of the visitors’ bowlers with figures of 5-45.

The double victory means Roffey are second in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Cuckfield having played a game less, and are through to the Group 11 final, where they will entertain a Havant side who knocked out Horsham at the weekend.
