Priory pair earn Sussex Academy spots

Two talented young Hastings Priory players have been named in the Sussex County Cricket Club’s Academy intake for the 2012 season.

Harry Finch, pictured, will be returning along with four other retained players for the new campaign, while Elliot Hooper is among the five newcomers to the ECB and Sussex combined programme.

The quintet of new players earned a one-year place after coming through a two-month audition before Christmas.

Finch was a Sussex Premier League winner with Priory and played for Sussex’s 2nd XI last season, and Hooper is a left-arm orthodox spinner who will now be moving into the under-16 age group.

All 10 players are given a bespoke yearly programme covering physical, technical, mental, tactical and life skills. These are delivered by the professional coaching staff, primarily on a one-to-one basis.
