Priory lose ground on leaders

HASTINGS Priory are now 27 points adrift of the leaders in the Sussex Cricket Premier League after contesting a draw at home to East Grinstead.

The visitors recovered from 123-5 to post a total of 245-9 thanks to knocks from Ian Sturmer (58), William Adkin (52) and Danny Irvine (47). Michael Glazier (4-55) and skipper George Campbell (3-66) enjoyed most success with the ball.

In reply, Priory were well placed at 111-3 but a mid order collapse saw them slump to 156-8 before Elliot Hooper (11), Jake Woolley (13) and Joynal Ahmed (12 not out) saw them finish on 182-9. Campbell had earlier top-scored with 51.

Horsham are the new leaders after getting the better of Preston Nomads in a top-of-the-table tussle.

Relegation-threatened Bexhill were also involved in a draw in their match away to Worthing.

The home side totalled 205-8 thanks to opener Andy Reid (75), while Jamie Bristow-Diamond continued his fine form with 5-43.

Bexhill finished on 159-8 after Tim Hambridge top-scored with 49. Spinners Benn Challen took 4-42 and Mason Crane 3-49.
