Priory extend Premier lead

HASTINGS Priory continued their good start to the season with a six-wicket win at home to Brighton & Hove.

The victory saw defending champions Priory extend their lead in the Sussex Premier League to 11 points over closest challengers Roffey.

Brighton totalled 225-9 off 58 overs after opting to take first knock at Horntye Park. Patrick Spencer top scored on 64 not out after the visitors had looked in a little bit of trouble at 91-4.

Josh Poysden grabbed 3-66 off 21 overs and Mick Glazier 3-47 off 12.

Kirk Wernars spearheaded the reply with an undefeated 92, while David Draper added 56 and club captain George Campbell, playing his first match of the season, weighed in with 35 as Priory finished on 227-3 off just 39.3 overs.
