Priory triumphed by five wickets away to Bickley Park, while Bexhill pulled off a stunning one-wicket victory at home to Hartley Country Club.

Shawn Johnson then guided Bexhill home with an unbeaten 28 which belied his tender years. Older brother Malcolm, who captained the side with Chris Topp taking a watching brief, chipped in with 26.

Sussex Premier Division high-flyers Priory restricted Kent Premier team Bickley to 201-9 batting first, Josh Poysden bagging 3-47, Harry Finch 2-24 and debutant Jack Parsons 2-29.

Finch ushered Priory through with 71 not out, supported by an undefeated 31 off 27 balls by fellow young gun Freddie Hulbert. Dave Draper hit 63 at the top of the order.

Full reports on both matches will appear in Friday’s Observers.
