Hailsham's young cricketers set for chance to thrive

Most of these players are part of the Sussex CCC pathway. The club said: “We take great pride in creating a road that allows junior cricketers to progress through to senior cricket and believe that participation at an early age is vital to this.

“Our focus in recent years has been to develop an environment, through our 3rd XI, 4th XI and Sunday teams, that allows our young talent to continue to develop their teamwork, skills and technique that are required to play cricket at an adult level.

“The older juniors at the club are great role models and show that progress through the club is possible with hard work and commitment to the game.

“The prime example of this is Henry Crocombe, who played 4th XI right through to 1st XI cricket during his five years at the club, before signing a professional contract with Sussex County Cricket Club this winter.

Club captain Andrew Anthony said: “It is brilliant to see so many talented youngsters come through our junior section and begin playing senior cricket. The last few years have seen so many talented players represent the club and develop as a result of playing senior cricket, that has been great to watch.

“This includes a number who are now regulars in our 1st XI.”
