Clubs take up challenge

THE Bexhill challenge match is on the verge of getting the green light following positive discussions between the town's two football clubs on Tuesday night.

Sidley United and Bexhill United reached an agreement for the clash to go ahead and the only remaining obstacle is to ratify the match with the Sussex County FA.

Bexhill chairman Dave Harris, who has pledged to donate 1,000 of his own money to charity should Sidley win, stoked up the light-hearted war of words between the clubs by saying: "I would expect Peter Heritage (Sidley joint manager) to publicly kiss my feet if we beat them."

Heritage retorted in typically bullish fashion: "If they won I would do it bare footed if he wants it but I'm confident it will be double figures."
