Cheap racing on offer at Fontwell Park

ENTRY to racing at Fontwell won't break the bank this summer.

The popular jumps course is joining in a national initiative to allow people to watch a race meeting for a tenner.

Horse racing is the second most-watched sport in the country behind football, yet there are many people who have never set foot on a racecourse.

Fontwell is taking part in the Get Britain Racing campaign, running across 17 courses in England and Wales. Bosses are inviting people to come racing for just £10 either to this Thursday’s evening meeting or similar cards n Thursday, August 16 and Thursday 30.

Phil Bell, executive director at Fontwell and Brighton, said: “Research suggests the majority of people who visit racecourses are avid racing fans, with few casual leisure visitors. We want to change that and encourage more people to come and experience a day at the races, which is about so much more than just watching the sport.

Highlights of the summer racing calendar at Fontwell include next Thursday’s evening racing with music from Irish folk band The Flash Company. That meeting is free for those who collect our voucher and follow the instructions, but £10 tickets are also available in the Get Britain Racing scheme.

On Thursday, August 16, Fontwell’s Ladies’ Evening includes music from The Magic of Take That and a £2,000 prize for the best-dressed lady. Two weeks later there’s another summer evening of racing.

The £10 offer is available only online in advance – visit www.come-racing.co.uk
