Burgess Hill Runner Darryl continues good form in the Hickstead Gallop

Another busy weekend for Burgess Hill Runners saw 27 members make the short trip to Hickstead for the 5 mile Hickstead Gallop, the latest round of the West Sussex Fun Run League organised by Haywards Heath Harriers.

Continuing his excellent recent form, Darryl Webb secured 3rd place in a rapid 28 mins 59 seconds and was well supported in the point-scoring stakes by Mark Nichols (31.44), Jonathan Lelliott (33.26), James Sorbie (33.47) and Alan Fry (34.45). The ladies were led home by Fay Roberts (38.07), Janet Clapton (38.42), Cath Beckett (39.04) and Liz Carter (41.22). With the club securing maximum participation points yet again, the team finished in 3rd place on the day with 81 out of a maximum 85 points and remain in 4th place out of the 18 clubs in the league. The club has invested heavily in it’s Academy for juniors and was well represented in the junior races which bodes well for the future. Further afield, the club sent a decent contingent to the popular Wimbledon Common Half Marathon where Marie Carey finished in 2.07.20, Kevin Walker 2.24.37, Lindsey Woods 2.25.04, Caz Wadey a new PB 2.26.51 and Theresa Chalk 2.30.59
