Bowls finals ready to roll

THE opening week of finals in the annual Hastings Open Bowls Tournament are set to be contested at White Rock Gardens.

The men's and ladies' singles, mixed pairs and men's triples are all due to be decided on Saturday August 21.

Tournament spokesman Derek Whitaker said: "It's going very well, we've had good feedback from most of the people who all seem pleased with the way it's going."

The tournament was opened on Monday by Hastings Mayor Pam Brown OBE and Carol Ashby, World Champion indoor bowler in 2002 and 2003, and England's No.1 indoor lady bowler.

The tournament continues all next week with the men's and ladies' pairs and men's fours. The finals are due to be played the following Friday.
