Big race’s big night

The prize-giving evening for the 2011 Hastings Half Marathon will take place tomorrow (Sunday).

Martin Brockman, who won bronze in the decathlon at the Commonwealth Games last autumn, will hand out the awards at Azur at the Marina Pavilion from 7pm.

Among the accolades is the Dyer Charity Award which will go to the person or group which has raised the most money for a worthy cause.

Anybody who thinks they may be in the running should contact organisers Hastings Lions Club with details of their efforts as soon as possible. Completed sponsor forms will also be entered into a prize draw.

As well as the awards, guests at the free-to-attend prize-giving will be able to watch a film of the race, and purchase DVDs and souvenirs. A full menu will be available for those wishing to eat.

The 27th staging of the 13.1-mile event - which took place on Sunday March 20 - attracted 4,704 entries and produced 3,772 finishers.
