5K race under starter’s orders

Bexhill Runners’ 2011 Seafront Run Series will kick-off tonight (Wednesday) with the first 5K race.

This is the 10th year the series has been organised, raising the profile of running and fitness in the town, and the event will attract more than 200 runners of all ages and abilities.

It will take place on Bexhill seafront, starting from the war memorial outside the sailing club, over a fast and flat 2.5km out and back course, which the runners will complete twice.

The race will start at 7pm and registration will open at 5.30pm on the seafront. Day entries cost £10 and all finishers will receive a medal.

Over the years the children’s races have become a great success with often around 100 youngsters competing over 500m, 1km and 2km. Children all enter on the day for £3, and receive a free race t-shirt and medal.
