Your chance to play le Scrabble

A Scrabble tournament in French is being staged in Bognor Regis.

Frenchman Nicolas Moyart is holding the first event of its kind at the Clock House Cafe in the High Street on the bank holiday weekend of May 6 and 7.

He hopes members of the town's twinning association will be keen to get involved along with French expatriates and those interested in boosting their language skills.

The tournament is open to newcomers as well as members of Philip's weekly French Scrabble club which meets at The Fountain in South Street, Chichester, at 7pm on Mondays.

Both duplicate and classique Scrabble would be played in the tournament with alternate sessions being held by the debutants and those with experience to ensure each group played against comparable rivals.

Play will start on both days at 9am. Participants will receive a welcome present of a book from the international federation of Scrabble clubs.

Registration fees are 15, including drinks and sandwiches, for each tournament.

Places are limited to 16 players for each tournament. The deadline for entries is April 15. Contact Nicolas on 01243 830587 or [email protected]. uk.
