Young End of Pier film festival entrant clinches top film award

A BOGNOR REGIS film-maker has won an award for his entry in the town's End of the Pier international film festival competition.

Pete Harris, who is a student at Northbrook College in Worthing, made a short animation titled The Cat, which was entered by the college into the south-east education awards section of the 2008 competition.

The film is about a paranoid man who has a cat which turns out to be the voice of his subconscious.

Director of the film festival Bryan Gartside said: "We had around 30 short animations in the category, and this is a worthy winner against quite a lot of interesting competition."

This is the second time an entry from Northbrook has picked up an award at the festival.

The education section of the festival is set to grow and is being rebranded for 2009.

Young film-maker's project manager, Alison Vermeeren, will be accepting submissions not just from local schools and colleges, but from young film-makers from around the world.
