Young dog walker is robbed at knifepoint

A SCHOOLBOY walking his pet Staffordshire bull terrier in Bedford Avenue last Thursday was approached and threatened by two youths, one brandishing a Stanley knife.

One demanded he hand over his dog, but he refused to do so.

The other youth then forced him to hand over his mobile phone and also demanded cash, but when the 15-year-old victim said he had no money, the two youths ran off down Bedford Avenue into Cantelupe Road.

The robbery took place at about 4pm on January 20.

Detective Constable Mark Waugham said: “This was a rare and isolated incident.
