Wick store’s gift as Christmas comes early for centre

Supermarket chain Morrisons has stepped in with an £8,000 donation to keep Wick Information Centre open.

The centre, in Wick Street, was set to run out of funding at the end of this month, but Morrisons, which is opening its new store at Wick early next year, brought forward the first instalment of an £80,000 contribution it was due to make in March.

Centre manager Julie Roby said: “It really feels like Christmas has come early.”

Stuart Marshall, manager of the new store, presented the cheque.
