News from Alex at The Royal Oak:

Tonight (Fri 30th) is Irish Music Night at The Royal Oak. Always the most popular evening of the month and a regular event that is still going strong after many years! Musicians begin their “jamming style” session from about 8.30pm, and continue playing traditional uplifting Irish tunes until we all fall over sometime after 11pm! Booking is advisable if you would like a table, please call 01424 870492.

This Saturday (1st December) we are hosting a social evening at The Royal Oak for all the members and friends of the Battle Royal British Legion from 8pm. There will be music, singing and a buffet and this is a chance to get-together and support BRBL as we continue to remember our comrades who in the past have lost their lives, and the families of those who have been injured in combat. Everyone is welcome to come along and be a part of this open social evening, if you would like more information about the Battle Branch, or about the evening itself, please contact Ian Cheveralls on 01424 774539. We look forward to a jolly good knees-up!!

If you are partial to a drop of Port (and let’s face it – who isn’t?!), we will be holding a Port and Cheese tasting evening from 9pm on Saturday 8th December at The Royal Oak. Booking is essential and tickets are just £5 each, so please call me on 01424 870492 to reserve your place!

The Whatlington Village Hall Committee are very excited to be holding a Whatlington Christmas Market at The Village Hall on Saturday 8th December from 11am. There will be a variety of stalls selling local produce and Christmas gifts, plus a lucky dip for children and there will be mulled wine and mine pies aplenty! We are hoping that this will be another chance for the local community to get together and get into the Christmas Spirit! Would you like to be involved and help out, or maybe have a stall yourself? If so, please contact Angie on 01424 870087 – the Village Hall Committee are always looking for volunteers to help with fund-raising events for the hall – don’t forget it’s our community facility and meeting place and we need to keep it running!
