VOLUNTEER: Good Samaritans needed to boost Littlehampton communities

GOOD Samaritans are needed to offer a sympathetic ear to needy people in the Littlehampton area.

Worthing and District Samaritans is appealing for a volunteer listener to join its ranks.

The organisation provides a 24-hour phone line for people feeling distressed or, potentially, suicidal.

Full training will be given and no qualifications or experience is needed.

Ferring Country Centre needs a new horticultural assistant to help the charity grow its vegetable patch and bolster its range of garden materials.

Volunteers would help the disabled clients, who are supported by the centre, to develop their green-fingered knowledge. Help is also needed to deliver of produce to local markets.

The Children’s Society is looking for a new speaker to arrange talks about the vital work the charity does to help needy and vulnerable children across England.

Age UK West Sussex, which is based at the Tamarisk Centre, in Littlehampton, is looking for helpers to swell the numbers within its home visiting and advice service for the elderly and disabled.

Tasks could include offering advice to older people about applying for benefits and filling out applications among other things.
