Vandals pollute school pool

CHILDREN at Cross in Hand Primary School were unable to swim in their pool during the last week of term because the water had been deliberately polluted.

The youngsters were kept out of the free-standing pool during the hottest week of the year.

Staff arriving early on Monday, July 24 discovered the water had turned green.

Head teacher Gill Mills confirmed this was because people had used it and their actions had caused the pollution.

She said: 'We have to test water and use chemicals to ensure the pool is clean but it was clear someone had been in it.

'We had no option but to close it while we investigated the matter.'

This is the latest in a series of incidents involving vandalism at the school.

In previous months yobs climbed on to the roof, broke windows and damaged property.
