Van and bus in collision

A DRIVER crawled from the wreck of his overturned van after the second serious accident in days in one of the town's worst black-spots.

A relief bus had to be brought in to take passengers on the remainder of their journey after a double-decker was in collision with a Renault Kangoo van at the junction of Cooden Drive, Westcourt Drive and Richmond Avenue.

A lamp post was demolished in the collision, which left the van on its roof on the pavement to the west of the junction.

Firefighters attending the lunch-time crash manhandled the Kangoo back onto its wheels.

The van driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with what were believed to be minor injuries. Bus passengers escaped with shock.

Two elderly sisters were freed from the wreckage of a car after a two-vehicle collision at the junction the previous Saturday night.
