'Upskirt pictures taken with hidden camera,' court hears

A man alleged to have secretly filmed up the skirts of women travelling on trains has pleaded guilty to outraging public decency.

Guy Knight, 33, of Esplanade, Seaford, is accused of taking photos of a string of young female passengers over a five-month period.

Prosecutors allege that between May 1 and October 1 last year, knight took 'upskirt' pictures on the rail network with a camera hidden underneath carriage tables.

On another occasion he is accused of taking a similar upskirt picture of a female work colleague. The resulting images were then transferred to his laptop computer.

Julian Dale, defending, told Lewes Crown Court: 'Mr Knight is of previous good character, and this has had a significant impact on him both emotionally and psychologically.

'He suffers from depression and anxiety.

'I know there is a significant bundle of around 199 black and white photos, and I would ask that the crown decide which are the more serious examples in order to save time.'

Judge Charles Kemp told Knight: 'Guy Knight you have pleaded guilty to what is a serious matter.

'I am not going to sentence you today because I think we need to know more about you, so I will be asking for a pre-sentence report.

'Previous bail conditions apply, although I will allow them to be lifted for two days. You will be back here on the 23 June.'

Knight was released on bail on the condition he does not travel on the rail network between Seaford and Brighton, which will be lifted for two days so he can attend interviews next week.

He is also banned from going to railway stations on that stretch of line and must not contact prosecution witnesses.

He will be sentenced on the 23 June, when the sentencing judge will also be asked to consider imposing an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.
